The play As You Like It was not to my liking. I will give the reasons why I didn’t like it. Their use of vocabulary was too complex and hard to understand. They made jokes, and I didn’t even understand them. Even though it was modernized, it was still hard to understand. The costumes in the play needed more detail so they could stand out.
Their use of props in the play needed more work because all they had were boxes that had green on one side and grey on the other. They should have had a backdrop to make it look better. The ladder that they stood on was just plain grey metal. It needed color on it and maybe grass where they could stand.
The music and sound effects in this play were pretty good. When they would fight, another actor would make the sound of the punch with their hands. When two actors were attracted to each other, romantic music would play in the background. They did use modern music, which I think was a plus.
Although I didn’t like the costumes or the set and props, I did like the acting in the play. In the beginning scene, there was a fight between the male boxer and a female boxer. They threw each other around, and it seemed real. He even mimicked himself hitting the table. When the sound of the bell went off the actors acted like it was a sound in the woods. The only downfall was that they used big vocabulary.
In conclusion, this play needed more work, such as a better set with a backdrop. They also needed better costumes with more color and detail. The acting was good and so was the music and sound effects. My favorite actor in this play would probably be Orlando because he was very enthusiastic and very entertaining.
